Wonderwoman – The Naked Truth follows two artists on their endeavors to retain their careers after becoming mothers, and the deep dark secrets to which no mother ever easily admits.

Through original writing, physical theatre, storytelling, sound and improvisation the performance explores big clash between motherhood and career. In creating this work we took into consideration both of our roles: that of a mother and of a professional artist. This means being flexible to having children in the rehearsal room and bearing the consequences of that decision: allowing their presence, interruptions and responses to influence our work, both constructively and destructively. Although the performance is aimed entirely at adults, it is also inclusive of babies/children if there were present.

The performance is based partly in our own personal experiences as a working artist/parent, and partly in a research into parenthood and career. We are gathering and documenting the material through discussions, workshops and a survey. Our aim is to offer a relaxed matinee alongside every evening show, enabling (grand)parents/carers with children access to high quality theatre experience where they can bring the kids.

Our areas of enquiry are high-octane visual style, and a dynamic, uplifting and interactive  narrative. Although dealing with a serious issue we are committed to retain the playfulness in presenting our story. By mixing original writing and documented material with physical and object theatre we are complimenting our individual areas of expertise: Kristina’s writing and storytelling and Tina’s movement skills. We are exploring issues ofambition and failure, concentration, multitasking and a whole variety of distractions by joining together contrasting styles and subjects. We are technically running the show ourselves from on-stage, drawing the audience further into the live element of the performance and using it to retain flexibility over the narrative of our show.
